Takeshi Kawakami was born in Urawa, Saitama, Japan, on Janually 28th, 1963. He received the B.E. and M.E. degrees in electoronic engineering from Keio University, Kanagawa, Japan, in 1987 and 1989, respectively.
In 1989, he joined the Opto-Electronics Research Laboratories, NEC Corporation. His research interests have been in the fields of quantum photonics and laser physics. Since 1992, he has been worked on research and development of vertical-cavity surface emitting lasers and electronic-luminescent organic devices. Mr. Kawakami is a member of the Japan Society of Applied Physics.
