Toshodai-ji Temple 唐招提寺 Toshodaiji Temple was founded by Saint Ganjin in the third year of Tempyo Hoji (759A.D.) . This Temple has handed down masterpieces of architecture and Buddhist statuary which are the essence of the Tempyo Culture.

唐招提寺金堂 Toshodai-ji Temple

開山唐僧鑑真和上は、聖武天皇の招きに応じ、苦難の末、受戒の律師として754(天平勝宝6)年に来朝した。寺は、759(天平宝字3)年に、鑑真により創建された。"天平の甍"と称される金堂をはじめ講堂、宝蔵などの諸堂が建ち並ぶ境内は創建当時の姿をよくとどめている。
